We design bespoke homes across the region that respond to its subtropical climate, its relaxed coastal-rural character, and the very real site constraints that come with it.
Designing for the Northern Rivers
Subtropical design is its own discipline: cross-ventilation, deep shade, breezeways and materials that handle humidity and salt make the difference between a home that's comfortable year-round and one that fights the climate. The region also carries genuine site risk — flood overlays across Ballina and the Lismore catchment, and bushfire in the hinterland — which is exactly why we study each site's overlays and constraints up front in site analysis before designing. Character and heritage controls in and around Byron add another layer we design to, not against. Multiple councils operate across the region (Byron Shire, Ballina Shire and neighbours), each with its own controls.
